SEED & PLANT-SWAP & SALE
On Saturday, April 30, the third annual Seed and Plant Swap and Sale was held on the lawn of Jackson Presbyterian Church from 9:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
The Seed and Plant Swap and Sale featured heirloom/heritage seeds and pass-along plants as well as venues for other agriculturally related items--honey, jams and jellies, cheeses, pecans, strawberries, fertilizers, and gourds. In addition, there were handouts related to gardening, free packets of seeds and people to share information about plants with you. There was opportunity for people to swap, sell, or purchase seeds, plants, and other items at reasonable prices. Our children and youth sold hotdogs and hamburgers as well as homemade goodies to raise funds for their 2010 summer camp experience at the Calvin Center.
Oh what a beautiful morning,
Oh what a beautiful day!
The day was beautiful and the people had a good time. No one did a head count but you can be assured that several hundred people walked through at some point during the five and a half hours that the booths were open.
If you didn't buy plants or seeds, then you had a chance to get a birdhouse or perhaps some gardening equipment or yard art. If gardening wasn't exactly your game, you could buy homemade strawberry ice cream or shortcake, a fishing fly, a bee box or even beautiful handmade jewelry or cosmetics. Inside the fellowship hall there was a silent auction on quite a number of wonderful items.
Plans have not been discussed for next year yet, but after three, comes four, so be ready to see what are in the plans for next year.
